Office block refurbishment planned

A landmark office block in Ipswich's Princes Street could be set for a major refurbishment – if the Borough Council approves the sale of the freehold to a property developer.

Fison House is owned by the Council and the sale of the freehold to the developer behind the Earls Colne Business Park will be discussed by the ruling Executive next week.

Council Leader David Ellesmere said the proposed sale, and the planned £8 million refurbishment, would be another big step in transforming an important gateway between the station and the town centre.

The proposed sale follows a decision by the Council to submit a planning application with a view to marketing the Landspeed/Avanti site in Princes Street for redevelopment and the announcement by law firm Birketts that it intends to relocate to a site on the opposite side of the road.

A decision on Fison House will be taken by Executive next Tuesday.
