Pentathlon Challenge in Ipswich

Published21st February 2017

Local organisation ActivLives is hosting the ActivPentathlon Challenge, starting on 28th February and continuing until the end of March. It is part of the ActivIpswich programme, a partnership initiative between ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council funded by Sport England and the National Lottery.

The ‘ActivPentathlon’ will consist of a series of taster sessions in a variety of sports, including walk netball, adapted volleyball, Archery, swimming, golf and even some Olympic-style gymnastics. There will be five activities held over five weeks at various venues across Ipswich.

“Anyone over the age of 55 is welcome but particularly those who are new to sport and those who cannot remember the last time they took part in any physical activity. This is your chance to dig out the plimsolls again," said Mike McCarthy, from ActivLives.

All of the sessions will be delivered by qualified coaches to ensure the activities are fun and that they are at an appropriate level for beginners. People can come along to any or all five of the sessions.

Each of the sessions costs £3 and includes a well-earned cuppa afterwards. For more information and to book your place either email mike@activlives.org.uk or telephone on 01473 345350.
