Sports project success

Published12th September 2017

A local sports project has reached the landmark of 25,000 attendances at community sports sessions across Ipswich.

ActivIpswich helps to get people more active by encouraging them to take part in accessible, inclusive sports that are challenging while being great fun to play. ActivLives delivers the project in partnership with Ipswich Borough Council and it is funded by Sport England through the National Lottery.

ActivIpswich is launching a new timetable of activities beginning this month, all of which are targeted at anyone over the age of 45 who is not currently taking part in regular sport or physical activity. Activities on offer this autumn include badminton, kurling, boccia, bowls, short tennis, ping pong and archery.

The activities are very inclusive and can be played by wheelchair users as well as those with limited mobility and fitness. Refreshments are included as part of the session. All of the sessions cost between £3-3.50, although the first visit is always free of charge.

If you are over 45 (there is no upper age limit) and you would like to get involved or find out more please contact Sophie or Mike at ActivIpswich on 01473 345350, visit the new website www.activlives.org.uk or email mike@activlives.org.uk
