Suffolk’s Public Sector Leaders (SPSL) have committed to supporting residents, communities, and businesses to realise the benefits of making low carbon choices. The Suffolk Climate Emergency Plan (SCEP) sets out the steps partners are taking to achieve this, setting Suffolk on the path to Net Zero.
The SCEP recognises the need to enlist the help of everyone living in, working in, and visiting Suffolk to reach this goal.
In the Summer of 2021 SPSL awarded £1.5 million to support delivery of the Plan, including a range of initiatives such as a fund to support community climate action, technical support for community energy groups, homeowner energy efficiency support, a Net Zero Innovation Fund for businesses, and development support for the county’s electric vehicle charging network. But there is much more still to be done.
SPSL have therefore agreed an additional £2 million to support further projects aimed at bringing low carbon transport, sustainable homes, and cleaner power to Suffolk, whilst supporting our communities and businesses in their Net Zero ambitions.

This funding will support the delivery of various projects throughout 2024 and 2025, as well as engaging with key stakeholders.”

“From helping residents to live in warmer homes that are more affordable to heat, improving our energy security, air quality and general health, strengthening community cohesion and creating job opportunities in emerging sectors, action around climate change is about so much more than reducing carbon emissions. This additional funding from SPSL will enable us to realise many more such benefits for everyone in Suffolk.”
