Two Ipswich residents prosecuted for illegally dumping waste

Two Ipswich residents have been ordered to pay over £600 in fines for illegally dumping waste near to their residence.

Mr Dinca and Miss Iosup of Defoe Road were successfully prosecuted by Ipswich Borough Council for dumping excess waste at the end of an alleyway near to their property recorded on 7 February and 3 March 2023.

Pleading guilty to two counts of illegal dumping, Mr Dinca and Miss Iosup appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court on 23 October 2023 and were together fined a total of £686.

Councillor John Cook, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Communities and Sport, says:

“Our Waste Enforcement team take illegal dumping cases like this very seriously.

We want to send a clear message to anyone thinking about illegally dumping waste in Ipswich, even at the end of your property, that we will take action against anyone caught doing so - no matter the amount of waste discarded.”
