Published21st March 2023

To boost celebrations for the Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla Queen Consort, Ipswich Borough Council is offering funding for community events in Ipswich from the 6 to 8 May 2023.

‘Big Lunch’ events are being encouraged across the UK in celebration of the King’s Coronation, with community event planners in Ipswich now invited to apply for up to £333 to support their celebration via the Ipswich Entertains website at: The King's Coronation - Ipswich Entertains

The closing date for applications is Monday 3 April 2023, with successful applicants advised by email whether their funding application has been successful and to confirm the amount.

Councillor Sophie Connelly, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Culture and Customers says:

“Ipswich Borough Council is pleased to support community events in Ipswich over the special May bank holiday weekend to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

It will be wonderful to see communities across Ipswich coming together to enjoy Big Lunches or street parties. When we did something similar for the Queen’s Jubilee weekend in June 2022, where 18 events were supported with Area Committee grant funding.”

Ipswich communities planning to hold an event to celebrate the King’s Coronation can find an online information pack and funding application form at: The King's Coronation - Ipswich Entertains

Further support is also available for Big Lunch event organisers at The Big Lunch | Eden Project Communities and at The Big Help Out | Home for volunteering events on Monday 8 May 2023.
