Charity swim

“Well done!” Mayor Sarah Barber congratulates Bryony Rudkin after her epic charity swim.

They are pictured at Fore Street pool, where Councillor Rudkin trains regularly. With them is lifeguard Roger Davis.

Councillor Rudkin took part in the Dart 10k – a gruelling swim Totnes to Dittisham in Devon, now in its eighth year.

She is no stranger to outdoor swimming – she is a regular participant at Alton Water in the Great East Swim.

The Dart10K is organised by the Outdoor Swimming Society and 10k is the distance swum in the outdoor swim event at the Olympics – although Devon was a little chillier than Copacabana in Brazil.

“I completed the swim in three hours and I raised money for Level Water, a charity that funds swimming lessons for children with disabilities. This year, the weather made it a bit more of a challenge, but I loved every minute of it!  I'm so grateful to all the staff at Fore Street baths who encouraged me in my training.”
