Young people are being invited to take part in community safety activities this August on the Cornhill in Ipswich.
Throughout this month there will be engagement days as part of a community safety drive to support young people.
Activities will be running every Tuesday and Wednesday – plus some Thursdays – between 8 and 30 August, 11am to 2pm on the Cornhill offering young people the opportunity to learn essential life skills and take part in team building, sports, wellbeing and behaviour discussions and themed craft activities.
The awareness month has been possible thanks to Diversionary Project Funding for Ipswich from the Home Office to divert young people from Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), violence or gang culture.
Six organisations are supporting the activities after receiving £5,853 in funding which aim to engage around 300 young people living in and around Ipswich.
A safer Ipswich remains a priority for Ipswich Borough Council, with many partner organisations supporting the awareness days:

Cllr John Cook, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, says:
“We’re pleased to be offering young people in our communities a range of activities to support their safety and wellbeing this summer.
This funding allows us and our partners to connect with young people and provide them with the tools and the support they need.
By engaging with young people, we hope to enhance the community spirit within the town and reduce anti-social behaviour. By working together, we can ensure that Ipswich has a strong community spirit, as we all strive to Build a Better Ipswich – a place that we are all proud to call home.”
