Independent Remuneration Panel Members Sought

Published28th March 2024

The Council is looking to recruit three people to become members of Ipswich Borough Council’s Independent Remuneration Panel, which makes recommendations about Councillors allowances.

The People of Ipswich elect 48 Borough Councillors to determine the policies and priorities of a very large and complex organisation. Councillors undertake a wide range of roles and receive financial allowances in accordance with a scheme which sets out the payments to be made for each role.

The Council’s Independent Remuneration Panel will review the current Members Allowances Scheme and make proposals for the Council to consider by late summer 2024. An allowance of £300 will be payable to successful applicants once a revised Members’ Allowances Scheme has been adopted by the Council.
