Ipswich Borough Council secures more funding to support businesses in Ipswich

Published3rd August 2021

Ipswich Borough Council has been allocated a further £835k from central government to help support businesses impacted by coronavirus. The additional funding has been granted as a result of the Council successfully allocating nearly £4m Additional Restrictions Grants to over 1,000 businesses.

The first part of the additional money has now been allocated to support businesses.

Councillor David Ellesmere, Ipswich Borough Council Leader, said:

“I am delighted that we have been able to secure further funding to support local businesses, many of which have found the last 16 months or so hugely challenging. During the pandemic, we have been able to offer financial support to many businesses including those in the hospitality, leisure, retail and event sectors.

With this additional funding I will be proposing that we give more financial support to our independent retailers, taxi and private hire vehicle drivers and many businesses that have had to close due to positive COVID-19 tests or self-isolation requirements.”

If you are in rated premised and operate within the retail, hospitality, leisure or personal services sector and your business closes due to positive coronavirus cases or due to self-isolation requirements – or has had to close for these reasons since June – then you could be eligible for some funding.
