Energy Performance Certificate Surveys

You are here

As part of Ipswich Borough Council’s Asset Management Strategy and our commitment to decarbonisation and reducing fuel poverty, we are taking a proactive approach to improving the energy efficiency and sustainability of our properties by carrying out Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) surveys on all our properties.

Our contractor Pennington Choices has been instructed to complete the EPC surveys on our behalf.

Energy Performance Certificate

The data gathered from the EPC surveys will be uploaded to the Government website and each surveyor will have ID and a letter of authority from Ipswich Borough Council to complete the surveys.

What is an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and what will it involve?

An energy survey is a four-page document which sets out the energy efficiency of a property on a traffic light system of A to G – A being the most efficient.

An EPC provides an indication of how much it will cost to heat and power a property, as well as how much CO2 it emits. It also includes recommendations of energy-efficient improvements, the cost of carrying them out, and the potential savings in pounds and pence that each one could generate.

Do I need to do anything?

Pennington Choices will send a letter from your appointed surveyor to confirm a date for completion of the EPC survey. The survey will necessitate access to your property to collect the data required which we anticipate will take approximately 30-minutes.

What happens after the survey?

Once Pennington Choices have completed the survey, a report on the overall energy efficiency of the properties surveyed will be provided to Ipswich Borough Council.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance whilst we complete the EPC surveys and should you need to discuss further then please contact the Customer Service Centre on 01473 432000.
