Area Committee funding

You are here

Ipswich is divided into five areas, each of which has its own Area Committee. Within these areas Councillors work with residents, businesses, and community groups to discuss how their budget can be spent to make improvements. Each Committee has an annual budget, (see below, last updated 29/01/2024).

Remaining 2023/24 Area Committee Budgets:

Central:          £21.61

South West:   £2,805.46

North West:   £1,208.44

South East:   £2,050.25

North East:   Updated soon

Please click the different areas to view a map of ward boundaries and Councillor details.

Who and what do we fund?

Funding is available to make positive improvements within each of the five Area Committee areas. Area Committees award funding to projects in local neighbourhoods to improve the life of residents and tackle local issues in the area.

We fund projects led by VCSFE groups/organisations. These must address at least one of the priorities outlined in the relevant Area Action Plan and benefit a significant number of people from within this area.

Area Committee grant funding will aim to:

  • Promote health and wellbeing.
  • Tackle disadvantage.
  • Support local solutions to meet local needs.
  • Promote community cohesion.
  • Develop sustainable and supportive communities.
  • Make Ipswich a cleaner, more attractive and sustainable place.

Make A Difference Fund

This smaller fund is set aside from the main Area Committee budgets each year to enable ‘quick fixes’. Each Ward has an annual budget of £500 at the discretion of Ward Councillors to help local groups. Typically, it is used to purchase small items or for event costs.

Ravenswood Community Fund

The Ravenswood Community Fund was created through contributions by the two housing developers contracted for the delivery of the Ravenswood area; Ashwell’s and Bellway Homes. The fund was initially managed by the Ravenswood Steering Committee, but is now managed by the South East Area Committee.
